Filed under: Good Times — elsja @ 2:09 pm

You oldie oldie woman! I can’t believe all my friends are turning 27! Seriously??? You are soooo close to 30 now! :) Don’t worry though, I’ll be with you there soon enough! This weekend Nicole celebrated her birthday like any classy lady would! With lots of jager bombs, moustaches, christmas decor and pancakes at 3am! I’ve decided to post the worst/lamest/most drunken pictures of the night for your entertainment… cuz really- how else would anyone see these pics if I didn’t post them for the world??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICOLE! I LOVVVVE YOU :)

I Guess Sexy’s Not Back After All July 28, 2006

Filed under: Sad, Mad, Bad — elsja @ 12:20 pm

More like ludacris is back! Hmm… actually that wouldn’t be half bad if I were talking about the rapper! :)

But seriously, how is it that Nicole, Jen, Adrian AND my sister ALL sat online at 9:59 am waiting to get the JT tix when they went on sale at 10:00 am and not one of them could get 1 single ticket???

SUCKS ASS!!  I hate hate hate ticket scalpers who buy up all our tickets and then sell them for ridiculous prices on Ebay!

 scalpers2.png

Might I remind you people that tickets went on sale for $60.00! Sixty!!! Six-Zero… not Five-Zero-Zero!! That means these crappy ass tools are charging like over 800% for each ticket. (Um feel free to ignore my math if it’s wrong… I slept through the part of school where we learned percentages- and all other math for that matter!)

Whatever… the point is… these biscuit heads got tickets and we didn’t! And some desperate (or rich) megafan (not me for sure) is going to pay close to a grand for JT tix. ummm no thanks. There are things in life that are worth a thousand bucks… hearing Timberlake sing “Seniorita” is not one of them.

What a sad day.

S’mores July 26, 2006

Filed under: Culture Shock, Good Times — elsja @ 9:21 pm

Tonight I made S’mores with my sister and the kiddies… sitting by a fire pit is the absolute BEST thing to do when it is 90 degrees outside. It was refreshing and cool… oh wait… no that’s all wrong. It was actually SCORCHING… but the outcome was well worth it!! I was talking to my fabulously foreign boyfriend and I was amazed yet again at how much living in another country can alter your life…

Just read on…7-06 Smores 001 (Small).jpg

Andrew says:
what did u have for dinner

Elsja says:

Elsja says:

Elsja says:

Andrew says:

Andrew says:

Elsja says:

god7-06 Smores 007 (Small).jpg

Andrew says:

Elsja says:

Andrew says:

Elsja says:

A country without s’mores. Who would have ever thought???

WTF? Do I still live in CA? July 24, 2006

Filed under: Sad, Mad, Bad — elsja @ 11:28 pm

Saturday afternoon the power went out at my sisters house. It didnt come back on until last night at 11:00pm. By then my sister and her family were checked into a hotel… with air.  Edison “couldn’t figure out what was wrong” Tonight my mom’s friend is staying at our house because they are shutting off her power for the night (and day tomorrow).  There are cooling centers where you can actually go and sleep if it is too hot to sleep at your house. SERIOUSLY????

The brushfires are out of control… the electriciy is on a stage 2 emergency alert- (FYI…stage 3 is rolling blackouts). They say they hope we wont get to that point… but…um… did you read the begining of my post? Seems they are already doing the rolling blackouts and they are just covering their asses by saying the crazy rain is causing problems. Speaking of rain…in july… whats up with that??? It just starts pouring down rain and I wake up to house-shaking thunder yesterday. We watched some Costa Rica style lightning storms Friday night. It’s sticky and sweaty and humid and 90 degrees at night!!johann_humidity.jpg

Seriously?? Did God like pick up southern California and just toss us into the south without telling us? I’m starting to think we are being deceived. I think we all went to sleep one night and he literally just picked up our entire state and threw us over next to texas in the middle of the country. That ocean out there that we can see- well… I hate to break it to you, but that’s not the pacific ocean anymore. It’s the gulf of mexico! The only thing we are missing are the giant flying roaches and cikada bug things… but I’m sure we’ll see those soon. In fact, Nicole’s house already invested in some bug zappers for their back yard.  I think I’m going to get in my car and drive west… or north… or whichever way I have to go to get back to California!!

I mean… I know we have had heat like this before… and even humidity… but i don’t remember it lasting THIS long. Maybe thats just another part of my memory that seems to be fading in my old age.

Best Night in a Long Time! July 23, 2006

Filed under: Good Times, Tunes — elsja @ 12:06 pm

As you all know from my last post I went to see Muse  for a 2nd time on Friday with Nicole, Adrian and Sara. As Adrian (who never even listened to Muse before Friday) would say:

BBE!!!! (best band ever)

Seriously, everything the show was lacking on Wednesday at the Greek was just back in full effect on Friday. I don’t even really miss the cool keyboard as much anymore. Although the venue (Soma) was WAYYYY too hot (see our before and after pics below) it was still a way better place to see them than the Greek. The crowd was more energized, it wasn’t overly crowded and the darkness of the indoor venue made the lights and effects soooo much cooler than the outdoor venue. Back to the heat…notice the picture on the right. I think it was Jen who asked me “was that sweat or did you guys put water on yourself?” Umm… that was ALLLLL sweat baby. My glistening cheeks, Sara’s wet bangs… allllll sweat. Pretty right?

Here are some other shot’s from the show… I don’t have Nicole or Adrian’s pics yet (and they are good) so I may add some when I get them. OOOO then I would have 3 blogs about Muse and Andrew would REALLLLLY love me even more!! I just still can’t describe how good they are live. You have to see them to understand.

After the show we all went to a bar in PB (oh, after we drove back to the hotel so Nicole could re-blow dry and straighten her hair). The bar was pretty fun and a cool 80s band rocked the house. They sounded so good that I didn’t even realize they were still playing after 30 minutes. I thought they had gone back to a DJ because their songs sounded exactly like the real ones!

Thanks to Adrian for providing the laughs for the weekend… who knew you could be so witty?? I don’t think poor Sara (aka Cornhole) necessarily appreciates all your humor… but it kept Nicole and I laughing for hours!! I will just recap the funniest moment of the night.

Scene:

A crowded Denny’s at 2:00am. Nicole, Sara and I sitting at a booth in the back of the restaurant looking at our menu’s. Adrian enters with 4 roses.

Adrian: (yelling to Sara from front of the restaurant to our booth in the back) “I’m Sorry I cheated on you!!! I’m so sorry. But the other girl does that one thing with her tounge that you’ll never do!!!”

People in restaurant started staring and laughing

Me: (with my face down hiding in the menu) “Please stop please stop. I’m hungry and we’re gonna get kicked out. I don’t want to get kicked out. I’m hungry.”

Nicole- CRACKING UP

Sara- Looked embarrassed

Adrian: “I was going to wear a condom but then it was too hot, so I just poked holes in it for air conditioning. It was like the concert tonight, it just needed some air.”

People in restaurant (including staff) – still laughing and still watching.

Me: (while cracking up) “Please stop, please stop I’m hungry I dont want to get kicked out.”

Evidently, the staff found it pretty funny becasue we never did get kicked out and I did get to eat my grilled cheese. And the entire restaurant had a few laughs in the mean time :)

Here’s a pic of us with our roses after the madness died down.

roses.jpg

It was such a fun night. We all had such a great time. I hope Muse comes back sooner this time so we don’t have to wait almost 2 years to do it all again :)

Muuuuuse <3 July 20, 2006

Filed under: Happy Happy Day, Tunes — elsja @ 3:09 pm

muse6.png

Well I though I would make this short and sweet. But… it’s not so short and sweet after all!

We saw Muse last night at the Greek and they were WONDERFUL- such good performers. I had Just a few concerns though.

First of all, I hope the yappy yacky biznatch standing next to me who wouldnt SHUT UP wakes up with laryngitis tomorrow and can’t talk for 2 weeks. I don’t understand how her boyfriend put up with her. I didn’t hear him say one word the entire show but she sure had plenty to say. Especially during the really mellow quiet songs. I seriously wanted to punch her in the face. At one point I turned my whole body and stared right at them for 10 seconds hoping maybe they would get the hint. I know they felt me staring, so they wouldnt look. Jen sensed my anger and moved me to her other side before I knocked the chick out-not that i would have, but I did have clenched fists because I was so annoyed. Good move Jen, I think I was about to snap!! (especially since the SAME thing happened to me at Dashboard last week.)

Secondly, and most IMPORTANTLY!!!!

Can someone PLEASE tell me where this went??? Maybe it has been kidnapped and it is being held hostage!!!! HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT??? I’ll scrape my savings and send it off because I need this back A.S.A.P

keyboardmuse7.png

This keyboard is the most amazing part of the entire show. See the cool lights in the right picture? WHYYYYYYYYY did they get rid of this and replace it with a boring white keyboard. I mean I know it matches their whole “white” theme which was cool (see below)…  but really,  it can NEVER compare their old super cool psychadelic light show keyboard!!

 7-06 Muse 004 (Small).jpg

And what happened to all the cool effects and stuff??? Last time they sent giiiiiinormous floating white balloons into the audience during the encor and at this show below they had cool red stuff flying around… see….

muse4.png

I just miss all the cool pretty visual effects that seemed to be lacking this time around!

Anyways… they still were amazing live. Their music was great- I just wasn’t as super stoked about the theatrics of it all. The crowd was pretty gay and dull too. I think people were all smoking too much weed. Wake up stoners! Time to dance, not take bong rips! GEEEZ.

Don’t worry! I’ll post another blog in two days after I go to my SECOND Muse concert tomorrow night :) I bet you can’t wait! Especially you Andrew who I know will write me some horribly mean comment about how shitty and Gay Muse is! Well… you can’t get me down with your evil words.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND TODAY! July 18, 2006

Filed under: Happy Happy Day — elsja @ 7:22 pm

I was standing in line at Cost Plus World Market today when I glanced over to a shelf and saw the most wonderful thing. It was like an angelic light shining down from Heaven onto the shelf of beautiful brownness…

And this, this glorious glorious thing is what I saw:

timtam (Small).jpg

The crunchy crispity goodness melts in your mouth and leaves a warm happy feeling in your tummy. Yummy. You all know I’m not a huge chocolate fan, but I looooove me some Tim Tams. That’s what they are by the way- even though it doesnt say it on the package. It’s an Arnott’s Tim Tam package. Get yourself one!

Happy Birthday Ryan

Filed under: Good Times — elsja @ 2:22 pm

Since Ryan Shaverdi’s (I won’t link him since he bashes our blogs) birthday was yesterday, a little party was thrown in his honor at the Chateau des Nicole, Pete, Tai, Adrian and Redman. Damn, that is a full house!! Well their new pad is perfect for throwing parties, so everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, including me!foosball

I spent a little time playing foosball. Okay, actually A LOT of time- and now my forearms and hands are hating me for it!

We also spent a lot of time drinking the CC… then, we played some more foosball. I’m sorry to say, my skills were not as impressive after a few drinks. Too bad for me.

Unfortunately, although I thought I figured out how to get all my pictures to upload easily… I was wrong. So instead of trying to spend hours formatting them, I am just putting in these 2. Even these took me forever to put in. How boring right? Oh well. One day maybe it will be better. s Bday 029 (Small).jpg

My Blogging skills have not yet been perfected. That is clearly obvious. I really hope that in time, like my foosball talent, my picture importing talent will also imporve with practice :)

Oh, I should also mention that last night I went on a date with my bestest friends Jen, Nicole and Shannon.

We went to yummmmmmy Tantalum in Long Beach (one of my faves) and then we saw “The Devil Wears Prada.” It was really cute of course.

It was a fun weekend! This week should be great too because I get to go see Muse twice! YAY! And then, it will be one less week until I get to see my love. Only 25 days left til I leave! Woohoo!

YAY DOUGIE! July 14, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — elsja @ 5:57 pm

dougie (Small).jpgI have decided to change my “dude someone help my fix the italics” post to my “YAY DOUGIE RULES” post!!

Id like to give a big thanks to Douglas Henderson who helped me fix all my wordpress problems!!

Now I can enter italics without EVERY post changing to italics.  Now, I can enter pictures wherever I want them to go- well, within reason. Now, if I could only figure out how to shrink the picture without distorting it. :)

Yay Yay Yay for Dougie. Hopefully I don’t have any more problems, but if I do… I’ll know who to call :)

More Cute Things That Kids Say

Filed under: Uncategorized — elsja @ 5:51 pm

Two cute things I heard today from two different 3 year olds.

The first was a client. We were making pizzas out of play dough and I was asking him about food. The second was a conversation with my niece. We were doing a puzzle together and she is REALLY good. Not one of those board puzzles where you fill in the pieces where they fit. This was an actual real 24 piece cardboard puzzle. Anyways, read on for some laughs.

Conversation # 1 Play Dough Pizzas

Me: I think I’ll put some cheese on mine, and mushrooms. Do you like pizza?

Kid: Yeah I like pizza

Me: I like pizza too. What’s your favorite food? Do you like carrots?

Kid: Yeah I like carrots. I like vegetables. They make me poop.

Conversation # 2 The Puzzle

Me: Wow Emma, you’re finding all the pieces!

Emma: I know!

Me (to my mom): Wow, the pieces totally catch her eye, she’s doing this so fast!

Emma (in response to my statement to my mom): I know, because I’m really good at this!!

Dashboard I love You

Filed under: Tunes — elsja @ 3:22 pm

Jen and I went to the Dashboard Confessional concert last night and it was AMAZING!! I was excited to go but little did I know just how much I would enjoy it. The fans were CRAZY. Loudest encore screaming I have ever heard. They had an awsome stage set-up. As Chris Carraba said “we wanted to make our stage beautiful for you.” Well, maybe that’s not a direct quote, but he said something along those lines. And they SURE DID make it beeeauuutiful!!! (although you can’t really tell from the pictures).

One of my FAVORITE parts was when he played “Rooftops and Invitations.” He asked the entire audience to hold up their cell phones (I couldn’t ’cause I left mine in the car.. oops)… but, it felt like I was floating in outerspace amongst all the stars. It was beautiful… all these shooting stars started darting across the big screen in the back. Seriously- I LOVE stars… and I LOVE Dashboard… so what could be better than Dashboard playing in an ampitheater that looks like a starry sky?? That’s right… NOTHING! Well, maybe if Andrew was there too- that would be better. Or if my he was the one on stage, and he was singing all those songs to me… that could be better! Some girl(s) out there are very lucky to have such sweet songs written about them.

And… who knew that Chris played the piano too?? I sure didn’t…. but I lovvvve musicians who can play the piano. They even have a violinist now and the drummer had a little xylophone… it was a beautiful set with beautiful music. Or… as jen says “I like the fun sounds they make.” HAHAHA.

Here are a few pics of the WONDERFUL evening. Now I am even more excited to see Muse next week! Yay for great music and concerts.
