Awww the Memories February 28, 2007

I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who remembers this so I was very excited to find this on youtube. Don’t ask why I searched for it… because I really don’t know.

I remember eating this in preschool every day. It’s one of about 8 or 9 memories I have from preschool. I remember LOVING it!! For years I asked people if they remembered this and NO ONE ever did. I was very happy to discover that this really did exist and it wasn’t one of those fake memories your brain creates over time.

While I’m feeling nostalgic, I decided to post a few other videos from my fond memories of childhood. Anyone remember these? (by the way, yes I’m bored… which is why I have the time to look all this crap up!)

Retarded Quiznos

So I eat at Quiznos a lot and at many different locations. For some reason, I always seem to have problems at one particular location… (see here for my initial complaint).

Well today I order my sandwich, Honey Bourbon Chicken on wheat- no onions. The guy puts the sauce on and then two TINY tomatoes… must have been the very ends and the two of them together didnt even cover half the bread.

So I said “can I please have more tomatoes?”

The guy said “we have to charge you.”

I said “well I’m not getting onions so can I just get the extra tomatoes instead of onions?”

He said “no, we still have to charge you.”

So I then said “well can you at least give me different tomatoes that actually cover the whole sandwich?”

So what does this moron do? Takes off my two tiny tomatoes, throws them away and puts two larger ones on.

Does this make sense at all? He just wasted 2 tomatoes. He could have just put them on my sandwich like I asked in the first place (in fact he could have just put one more on and it would have been fine) and I would have been a happy customer. Instead, he uses 4 tomatoes -WASTING two of them and pisses me off in the mean time.

Some people have no brains. No brains at all.

Well… except for the thumb sucking part. But you see, this weekend I bought myself a blanket. Not just any blanket, a very very special blanket. Around Christmas I was at Nicole’s and I was cold and Adrian let me borrow his wonderful NAP blanket. It was very nice and it gave me an idea. I thought I would buy similar blankets for my niece and nephew for their birthdays since they always fight over the “soft blanket” in their house.

So I headed to Brookstone Saturday night with the kiddies while I was babysitting and picked up a few NAP Cuddle blankets for Preston and Emma. I decided to also buy myself a NAP Dream Blanket since I fell in love with Adrian’s. While I was at it, I picked up a travel size Cuddle blanket (which I can totally justify since I REALLY need it for all my 15 hour plane rides!)

Remember in the movie Mr. Mom from the 80’s the vacuum cleaner (“jaws”) started to eat the kid’s “woobie” and the kid freaked out? Well thats what would happen if someone tried to steal my dream blanket.

I’m in love. It is the softest most cuddly piece of heaven that you could ever imagine and it’s all mine.

Of course I slept with my new blankie last night… and I dont mean I covered myself up with it to keep warm. No, I scrunched it up in a ball and hugged it all night. We cuddled. Me and my woobie.

I’m Lost… and in Pain February 22, 2007

I have one word for last night’s LOST…

BORING

Geez how slow can you get? I always start to think I’ve got things figured out and then i realize… I’m just as lost as the people on the Island when it comes to this plot! And seriously… what was up with the tatoo on Jack? Why did it make everyone beat him up? Maybe he’s the devil or something. “He walks among us but is not one of us” Gay. I’m sure the writers of the show will explain this whole part to us some time in 2009. At least it appears that something productive will actually happen on next week’s episode.

In other news, I got some brilliant idea last night to go running at my sister’s house. I wanted to go to the gym but I didn’t feel like driving so I thought… “Hey! I’ll go running. I never run EVER and i really HATE running, but I’ll do it anyways.” Well turns out running non-stop around my sisters neighborhood which is probably about a mile… wasnt the best idea considering I didnt warm up and I really wasn’t prepared for that! I’m sure a mile is nothing, I realize this- but this is coming from a person who couldnt even run the mile without stopping when I was in elementary school- when I had a lot more energy. Today I am suffering from shin splints and sore thighs and I feel like I am walking like a horse. you know… how they kick their feet out- “toe” first and then their legs follow.

Yep, that’s me. Horse lady- all because I decided to go running. I also felt like I was going to vomit as a result of this run and I could not go to sleep until about 4:30 am. No joke. But that may have been a combo of exercising too late and drinking a Dr. Pepper at dinner.

Finally, I must say that today is a wonderful day (maybe). Because tonight is Grey’s Anatomy (yay) and I get to see if Meredith lives (yay) or dies (booo). If she dies, it will just ruin at least a month of my life! Or maybe just 2 weeks because I’ll cheer up in 2 weeks when I head off to Sydney.

I’m getting my hair done on Friday so I google imaged “hairstyles” to see if I would find any cute pictures. I’m not getting it cut or anything, but I still like to look. I found this page. Evidently it’s wedding hair, but what I found most fascinating was the beauty of these high quality models they got to pose for the pictures.

These have got to be some of the ugliest models (and hairstyles) I have ever seen. I’m doomed for saying that. I’ll probably end up with purple hair on Friday just for being so cruel. But I guess I dont mind if it’s purple as long as it doesnt look like the girl’s hair on the bottom right photo.

Ok Start Laughing February 18, 2007

You have my permission to call me a nerd. A big nerd. When I was about 14, Deanna and I used to play a little game called King’s Quest on her computer. It was an ancient, floppy disk DOS adventure game. The kind of game where the little guy walks around and collects things that he finds… like watches, potions and magic wands… and then he uses them later in the game to solve riddles and save princesses and crap like that.

Deanna and I LOVED this game and would play for hours and hours on end. When we would get stuck, we would call the (not so free) tip hotline. Her mom wasn’t so happy when the phone bill came. We were very excited when we finally won the game after  months of playing!

Well I told Andrew about my jr high gaming obsession and he told me that he and his brothers used to play a game called Monkey Island. It sounded fun, just like Kings Quest. He kept telling me I should get it. Well, even though I am 26 and I’ve completed grad school, have a grown up job and stuff like that… I finally gave in. Today, I bought the first of 4 in the Monkey Island Series.

And yes, I give you permission to laugh. Because not only am I buying computer games to play by myself at home- but I am also buying a very old video game with shitty graphics. The kind of game where you have to read the dialogue in the speech bubbles coming from the little guy’s head…  I never go out anyways, and all I do is watch TV… so i figured what the heck… I’ll just become a bigger dork and start playing old video games. Maybe if i beat this one I’ll buy the next 3 editions.

Things I love February 13, 2007

1. My boyfriend Andrew, to whom I would like to say Happy Valentines Day!!! (in Australia of course, I’ll say it again tomorrow for the US) Look I even found a kangaroo Valentine. I would love it even more if I could actually see my love on V-day!

Oh- and I still love pumpkin spice lattes! At the Dallas airport last night I had a sneak peak into the stock room of the starbucks there. I saw 4 whole giant bottles of pumpkin spice! This is definitely a good sign!!

Did I Mention… February 8, 2007

How happy I am that they still have Pumpkin Spice Latte’s at EVERY Starbucks that I’ve been too recently? And I can count at least 5 of them in my head. One guy the other day asked how often I ordered them, i said “pretty often.” He then told me that he never has anyone order them any more!

This is precisely why I can still find them. No one else realizes that they are still around… so I am really the only one still ordering them. This means I should be able to order them for at least another month because I see those bottles of pumpkin spice at the stores… and they are still all full!!! YIPEEEEE

I’m so happy! The only thing that would make this situation better is if Andrew were still here to drink them with. Awww I miss drinking pumpkin spice lattes with my pumpkin.

He Came and Went February 5, 2007

Well it’s been awhile… I lag, I just haven’t had any motivation to blog because I was too busy having fun with my boyfriend for the last 2 weeks. That’s right, Andrew was here for 2 whole weeks. He was only supposed to be here for 10 days, but that was extended a few times. First he changed his flight so he could meet with some pilot people here… then even when he was supposed to leave Wednesday night, he got stuck and couldn’t get on the flight so he was with me until Saturday night

We had a great time!

We took the train to San Diego for the day and he was really really excited to see the bar where the piano scene in Top Gun was filmed. We also went to the big aircraft carrier so Andrew could drool over some of the crazy jets!

 

 

We spent the weekend in Palm Springs just hanging out. We got take-out chinese and ate tons of reese’s pieces. We watched a few movies (speaking of which- we rented “the last kiss” i was about halfway through before i realized its  a REMAKE of a foreign film that I’ve already seen. I like how they failed to announce that in all the advertisments!), we played Uno and Yahtzee, drank wine in the jacuzzi… it was a nice relaxing weekend.We also took a trip to the Living Desert in Palm Desert. They had all these cool animals- like a zoo… they had camels, giraffes, cheetahs, zebras and even African Warthogs…. see….

 

 

We ate out… a lot…

 

 

It was an amazing 2 weeks… and now we only have 4 more until I get to go back to Sydney.

Until then, I miss my love terribly!
