Rain Check July 8, 2007

So I couldn’t really practice my Martha Stewart skills this weekend. I couldn’t find bottle caps anywhere to make my nifty wine charms, so I finally accepted the fact that I’d just have to order them online. A 2 buck bag of bottle caps is going to cost about 11 after shipping. Lame. But it’s still 50 caps so I can make a lot of wine charms (if I even figure out how to do it). I’m pretty impatient and when I decide I want to do something, I like to do it right then and there… so waiting until next weekend to make my fun crafts is really annoying, but I guess it’s what I have to do.

In addition to making my wine charms, I’ve decided that in the next few weeks, I’d like to do the following:

1. Make white Sangria. I have 2 recipes and I can’t decide which one I want to use, but as soon as I have a reason, I will be making sangria to share. Maybe we can have a girls day at Jen’s pool next week. Whatya say?

2. Discover more crafts I’d like to make. Also, I eventually want to paint a picture I’ve been envisioning for awhile… but I haven’t determined which color scheme to use yet so it will have to wait.

3. Find some cute martini glasses and a fun sake set to buy and add to my collection of house stuff that is piling up on my bedroom floor.

5. Continue finding great stuff on the internet that I like to look at. (see my new “Fun Stuff I Like” links on the right)Additionally, here are some other fun new things that I like and want:

i want1.jpg

How cute are these ice cubes? It would take days to have enough to fill a few glasses, so since they are so cheap, maybe I’ll buy a few. Who knows, I probably won’t buy any, but I do like them.

This apron is so cute. I can’t decide if I like green or turquoise, but I decided green is best because it will match all my other green kitchen tools.

Ok so this one is a little pricey, but I really want to go on picnics with Andrew one day, so I will need to invest in a cute picnic bag at some point. I’ll probably need to find a cheaper one though because I really cant justify spending $80 on a picnic bag.

There are just so many cute things I find on a daily basis, I just want them all.

Crafty McCrafterson July 6, 2007

I decided to become a crafter. It’ll probably last a day and then I’ll get over it. But who knows… maybe my newfound (potential) hobby will continue past this weekend!

My First project:

Wine Charms.

wine.jpg

No, I didn’t make these… but I will. In case you dont know what these are- they are little charms you place on the stems of your wine glasses when you have numerous people sipping the lovely fruit of the vine in your humble abode. These charms help identify whose glass is whose. These would have been of great assistance to me when I almost drank a glass of wine with a roach in it… ok- way off topic…

So I am jacking this girl’s idea for these charms and I will make them this weekend. Although I don’t know exactly what I’ll put on them- maybe ill use pictures like she did or maybe ill just paint crap. We’ll see how they turn out. If they turn out fabulous- I’ll take pictures and post them for all to see. If they turn out looking like dirt… we’ll forget I ever wrote this post.

And just to end this blog on a totally random note I will post a quote from my cute boyfriend (remember, it’s winter there):

It’s so cold. Your nipples would look awesome here at the moment.

HAHAHHAHAHAHA

A Fun Fourth July 5, 2007

I love the 4th of July! It’s just a nice summery, warm day filled with BBQs, friends, family, drinks, fireworks, water fun…

I spent the day with my family at my sister’s. Some of her neighbors and friends stopped by as well and we had a nice bbq- great food (that I didn’t enjoy as much as possible due to a crappy stomach ache). Oh well…it was nice enjoying the hot sun and relaxing in the kiddie pool with Preston and Emma.

When the sun went down, the fireworks came out and so did the entire neighborhood! My sister has a little grassy area next to her house that backs up to a clear wall and there is a great view of Orange County for all to see. Crowds always gather in that area to get a view of all the firework shows- but it seemed that there was an unusally large group last night. SOOOO many families showed up. Someone even brought a portable movie projector to entertain the kids! Trevor entertained the gathering crowd with his slew of illegal fireworks.

The most interesting part of the night came when we headed into Bronwen’s back yard for our own personal private viewing of all of Orange County’s firework shows. All our friends and family cruised to the back of the house… and then so did some random kids, and some random adults. No one even knew who they were. Trevor even was nice enough to offer one of the random ladies a drink and she was so picky that she told him “I’d rather have a cocktail than a beer.” Then, when he told her they just had beer… she asked “what kind?”

UMMM… WHO are you lady and WHO even invited you? Weirdos. My sister’s neighborhood is full of them!

Here are some pics from the day/night.

Dream Dilemma July 1, 2007

Filed under: Sad, Mad, Bad — elsja @ 11:22 pm

Everyone knows I love my Nap Dream blanket with all my heart. If you remember reading my blog back in February, you will see that buying my blankie was a great highlight in my life. I’ve slept with it every single night since I got it. Now I’m not a freak, I just love to cuddle. Well maybe I am a freak, I have been know to say “hi” to it when I walk in the room! (I’m not joking).

I avoided washing it for the longest time. I wouldn’t use my blanket unless I had taken a shower. I wouldn’t eat food while using my blanket. I did everything in my power to keep it as clean as possible so I would never have to wash it. I just knew that if  I washed it, it would never be the same.

Well, I was right!!!! I washed it a few months ago and it just never was the same. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still wonderful. But that happy joyous feeling I used to get when I’d pick it up is just diminishing. But, I just figured, “if I never feel the unwashed softness of another Dream blanket, then I won’t miss it and I won’t know the difference.”

Well, the other day I washed it again. I used Woolite even. I did everything possible to prevent the loss of its softness. But its just not the same!! Today I was at a store and I walked by some blankets and one looked like black soft fur. I touched it and my heart sank. It was softer than my beloved woobie. NO BLANKET should be softer than mine! But this one was! It reminded me of my blanket when I first got it. It reminded me of what mine SHOULD feel like.

So now i just feel torn. I feel like I could buy a new Dream blanket to get back that warm fuzzy feeling… but it’ll just die over time too! :( I came home and did a google search to see if other people had this problem. I figured maybe someone has a cure to revive the softness. But I found nothing. This seriously makes me sad. I’m not even exaggerating…I really want a new soft one, but I’m attached and devoted to mine.

Please somebody find a cure for my favorite fluffy friend.
