My random life experiences as I follow my heart and travel to Australia for love…

Tea Cozies February 10, 2009

Filed under: Geeky, Nerdy & Artsy Stuff — elsja @ 9:19 pm

My mom is trying to sell some of her super cute Tea Cozies and bread warmers/hot pads so I thought I’d help her out by posting this as many places as I can. Tea cozies are nifty little “sweaters” that you use to keep your pots of tea warm and toasty. She just made me my first tea cozy ever last month and it actually makes me want to drink more tea… just so I can use it.
She currently has several patterns “in stock” but also takes custom orders. The brown and green one I have shown here was a custom order placed by me :) I sent her a few pictures of some fabric ideas and she was able to go out and create exactly what I was envisioning.

Check out the full album of possible options here:

TEA COZY ALBUM

They are fully reversible and prices currently range from $25-30. She also will take custom orders based on colors/fabrics/detailing that you choose. Prices vary for custom designs.

Also- for anyone in Austrlalia, she’ll be coming down under at the begining of March- so if you’re interested, let me know ASAP so she can bring any selected cozies with her.

Good Things March 24, 2008

Some good things to write about this week:

1. Jen’s Beautiful Shower. Some friends and I threw together this shower in a little over a month. Planning things from another country isn’t easy, but we managed to work together- even from a distance and it all came together perfectly. When you’re 17 you go to house parties with kegs and beer bongs… when you’re 27 you go to parties like these…

2. Jen’s Engagement Party. Again, planned from the other side of the world, and yet it was a complete success. I think everyone had fun learning to give lap dances and spin on a pole :) And even more fun eating our delish din din and drinking yummy cocktails and wine at Landmark Steakhouse… and let’s not forget the dancing!

3. My Online Billpay was restored. I had to open another Bank Of America account last week since Citibank sucks ass. I used to have a B of A account until I closed it and changed to CB before I moved in Sept. Well, yesterday I go online so I can re-add all my linked accounts to billpay. I actually have the same login info as before, which I thought was pretty convenient, but when I went to add my billpay accounts the site said I did not have an account that could be used with billpay. So I was annoyed and called customer service. She said “let me do some maintenance on the account and it should be active in up to 8-24 hours.” Well 5 minutes later, I logged on and it was active. NOT ONLY was it active, but all my old accounts were already linked up and I didn’t have to add anything!!! That saved me about an hour of time and it was SUPER convenient. I really hope this new account works easier in Australia than my shittybank account.

What’s Happening to Me? November 23, 2007

Filed under: Health and Yummy Stuff — elsja @ 2:28 am

A list of some of the things I’ve done this week in my new life as a real adult:

1. Vacuumed. Nothing so special here- except the fact that I hardly ever cared about vacuuming before- and this week (or in the last 1 1/2 weeks) I did it twice AND had Andrew do it a 3rd time before our guests came over last night. Obsessive?

2. Ironed. Again, nothing special about ironing- except for the fact that I was ironing napkins and dish towels. Who irons dish towels?? That’s almost as pointless and freaky as ironing underwear.

3. Decided to make a pumpkin dessert. Jen inspired me with her stories of her fabulous pumpkin bar things- so I decided I’d make a dessert. So the weird part? I just steamed and mashed up a real pumpkin. I’m not using canned pumpkin (only because they don’t sell it here)… but seriously, steaming pumpkin and mashing it was so easy! I’m sure it will make my pumpkin dessert even that much more yummy. I just have to decide what I’m making- that’s another thing I did today- sat for hours trying to find recipes online. I think I may go with these.

4. Reupholstered 5 chairs. Yes 5… we do have 6 that were FINALLY delivered- but I only felt like doing 5.

5. Made mashed potatoes for the first time in my life. Not that they are hard, I’ve just never needed to because I had my mom to make them for me and hers were the best anyways. Well I must say I am pretty proud of my first attempt and we have plenty of them (and some green bean/corn casserole that I also made) left over that we’ve frozen for future feasting. Oooh… alliteration.

That’s all for my nerdy update. Jen, I think you have a new Susie Homemaker friend. Let’s start sharing recipes and cleaning secrets!
