Here’s a fun fact about me. In general, I hate exercise. Like REALLY hate it. I do it because I know I should but it usually makes me miserable even thinking about it. With that said, there is one form of exercise that I don’t mind. In fact, over the years I’ve grown quite fond of it. That little gem is yoga. Don’t get me wrong- it still takes some serious motivation to get me into a yoga class, but while I’m there I’m not dying to get out and I feel amazing afterwards. The only problem with yoga is that it is really freaking expensive. Even the cheapest memberships to proper studios will cost you over $1200 a year and I don’t like gym yoga- I find it boring.
So for years I have been looking for cheaper forms of practicing the one physical activity that I enjoy. I’ve downloaded podcasts and apps, I’ve bought videos. They were all the same, either super easy, super repetitive or just plain crap.
Then a few weeks ago I found a glorious app called Yoga Studio.
I’m not joking when I say this is the app I had been dreaming about for years. Over 16 hours of prerecorded classes are great on their own, but the ability to create your very own classes from a selection of 280 poses?? Genius! I used to say “why can’t someone make an app where I can create my own class?” Well, now someone has! Not only can you build a class, it will actually link together the poses that you’ve chosen so that it flows smoothly. Love, love, love. You can even schedule classes in the app and it will add them to your iphone/ipad calendar.
My latest pass to a yoga studio near my office just expired and I’ve decided not to re-new it. This app is just as good as any class (well, maybe not as good as some of the super tough power or bikram classes but good enough for me). It only cost a few bucks in the Itunes store- such a steal! I would have paid a lot more for it knowing how great it is. If you like yoga, I definitely recommend trying it out. Oh and in time you will learn to just accept the annoying voice of the class teacher.
