I can’t believe I’ve been on this God awful diet for 24 days. Well, 22 if you don’t count the 2 days over the weekend that I stuffed my face full of junk. So how is it all going you may wonder?

Well, the weekend proved to me that this diet IS working. Before I even started D Diet I had always planned to eat regular food at the wedding on Saturday so Friday night I decided to test out my stomach and make sure that the first “bad” food I put in it wasn’t going to make me sick. I’d hate for that to happen at a wedding. So I ate my 4 favourite food groups: cheese, crackers, M&Ms and dip.

It. Was. Heavenly.

Later that night was not heavenly. My stomach was not happy. As much as it sucked, it really did show me that what I put in my body DOES have any impact on how I feel. Of course I always figured that, hence the reason for doing the diet in the first place, but it was good to have it proven even if the proof came in the form of pain. The whole next day my stomach hurt as if I had consumed gallons of alcohol the night before, which I had not. Evidently my stomach hates cheese, crackers and chocolate as much as it hates alcohol. But I can’t be certain as to which food was the main culprit since I mowed them down all at once. I was ok at the wedding, but I definitely was feeling the effects of the fat, dairy, alcohol and sugar I was scarffing down all night. Oh but it tasted so good.

Sunday was back to bland. Back to my quinoa, buckwheat and veggies. I have definitely increased the myriad of food I can eat though and I even had my first fruit today… a delicious banana. Ahhh the little joys in life.

So many people ask me “so when is this diet over?” Well… I think I’m up to a whopping 16 ingredients that I can choose from now but the diet won’t really be finished until I am back to actually eating most food and by “most” I mean a hell of a lot more than 16 ingredients.  So in other words, I still have a looooong way to go.

  1. Remarkable isn’t it?

It makes you wonder how long we’d live if we ate “your diet” from birth.

Clearly your body enjoyed the holiday from eating junk – but how to discover which of those items caused your discomfort later?

I guess all you can do is a controlled test – do the sugar one day on its own and see how you feel the next day – rinse & repeat…

I’ve noticed these days that if I overdose on sugar or even pastry in the evening, I wake up feeling really groggy the next day and that never used to happen 🙁

Some time ago I read a lot about a diet/lifestyle called “the Primal Blueprint” over at marksdailyapple.com – very similar to what you’re doing overall – focused on unprocessed foods etc. its a big site with a big following and a really active forum – check it out – it might enable you to widen your range more quickly 🙂

    1. You’re exactly right! I will have to do the controlled tests in the future… just have to start off with more of the healthy stuff. This is definitely the healthiest I’ve ever eaten in my life. LOoks like the premise behind the primal blueprint looks a bit different to what I’m doing in that his seems more about weight loss and a balance of good fats and lots of fruit and veggies. Mine is more about finding allergans and intolerances. While it is also definitely about unprocessed foods, at this stage I even have to cut out most of those as well- including all the things deemed super healthy in modern society. Meat is a big no no on this particular diet as well because it is so acidic in our systems. One day I’ll get back there though. 🙂

  2. Amazing will power!!!!…. The book sent via email doesn’t want to leave email. Don’t know how to get it into my Ipad.. I do have the ibook app you mentioned. You are such a motivator when it comes to determination……LOVE YOU!!1
