People always assume that since Andrew is a pilot, we must travel tons. In all realty, we don’t. In fact,  we have not been on a “proper” holiday in since we went to Africa nearly 2.5 years ago. What is a proper holiday? I like to think of it as a trip we book without an event or required reason to visit that location. Sure we’ve been away in the last 2 years for weddings (including ours) but we haven’t gone somewhere together  that we chose to go just for fun. So finally, after several years we’ve booked a holiday!

In November we’ll be heading to Hong Kong, California, New York, DC and then back to California for Thanksgiving. US domestic flights are booked, hotels are booked, our flight home is booked… the only thing we still need to do is book flights to Hong Kong and  flights to USA and then we’re set.

We always planned to head to California for Thanksgiving since Andrew has never experienced a US based Thanksgiving dinner and since he has 4 weeks leave we decided to visit a few other places as well. I’ve already been to NY and DC but Andrew has not and let’s face it, I love NY so I’m happy to go back. I’m really looking forward to Hong Kong as well. We’ll get to visit our friends (Kris, Tess, Wes, Cindy & Tiff) and I’ll get to see what all the big city fuss is about. 🙂

As an added bonus, Andrew’s brother and his girlfriend will be joining us in New York, DC and then back in CA for Thanksgiving so we’ll be able to expose a few more Aussies to the holiday gluttony.

So… all my friends in California – keep your calendars free, we’ll be seeing you in just a few months!

  1. Sounds like a great trip – just wish you could detour to Arkansas for a day @ least to see your Grandma, but know that is not always easy to do (especially when you are traveling with other people). He will enjoy Thanksgiving!! I like New York too – but I’ve never been to DC. Bobby has. You are both going to be very well traveled and have a chance to see so many different cultures – would love to be able to do that. We would love to see Australia sometime – did your Mom tell you that Daddy almost moved all of us there?

    1. I know. We did actually look at adding extra flights to the south on the way to or from the east coast but it was going to add a lot of extra cost and plus travelling with others makes it hard. Mom did tell me that… our lives would have all been different. In fact, I probably wouldn’t be here. 🙂
